UK to Oz - 1987 (A Work in Progress)

In 1987 I undertook a journey with a friend between my hometown of Slough in England to Sydney in Australia. It turned out to be a journey that tested friendship, the question of ego and a long distance love affair. Undertaken before the internet when pre-planning was done in the local library, postcards were the tweets of the day and Lonely Planet books became dogeared and damaged in backpacks; when we carried 25 cassette tapes and a small portable stereo with 15 D type batteries and photos were processed at the next chemist shop on the road and posted home to mum. Looking back I can see that the young man I was then was full of the neivety of youth, but willing to learn as he went along. I'm glad I did it.
