After supplies in ChCh we headed north to a campsite that jumped out at us when we were planning our route north. From the web images and descriptions on the NZMCA app it looked like this farmer's paddock had exectly what we needed for a couple of nights. Such was the beauty of the location and the calm of the weather that 2 nights became 3. We relaxed, walked some of the Kaikoura Costal path and cycled 30km or so along the coastal back roads. Watching Hectors Dolphins, Spotted Shags, Caspian Terns and various other airborn fauna, as well as reading books, kept us amused. The sea mist was a novelty, but the clear night sky with 10 million stars and the sunrise on the morning we left were highlights.
